There is no doubt that George W. Bush is a lame duck President waiting for his administration to be over. So is the rest of the country. While the soon-to-be-former President will probably grab Laura and head back to the ranch in Crawford, TX, those who still work in his administration have to figure out what their next move will be. Secretary of State Condeleeza Rice, who once was the provost of Stanford University, is said to be returning to her old stomping grounds in January.
But in a truth could be stranger than fiction twist, Rice may indeed have another option as well: the NFL. Apparently, The San Francisco 49ers may be interested in Rice taking over as team President. It wouldn’t be such a stretch since she is an avid football fan.
Now all of this may be nothing more than idle speculation or wishful thinking but I think it would be a fascinating option for Rice. She’s already proven how smart she is about the issues of state and the world, but this opportunity would give her the chance to use her strategic acumen in another arena altogether.
And because she is passionate about the sport we might even get to see her scream, shout and laugh—which might be as much of a welcome relief to her as it will be for us. So, seriously girl please consider it. Lightening up may be good for you.
