Jennifer Hudson has learned a valuable lesson in building her career: it pays to diversify your talents. Since she exited “American Idol” back in the day she’s known that success didn’t have to come through her singing alone. So we had JHud the actress and after that Jennifer Hudson the Weight Watchers spokesperson and after she lost more than 80 pounds, she added author to the mix. That’s a lot of hyphenates but she seems to make it work. So it comes as no surprise that she’ll be adding yet another title to the mix when she debuts her fashion line on QVC in September.
If you’ve ever seen QVC, or HSN for that matter, you quickly understand that personality is what sells the merchandise. And Mary J. Blige proved when she launched her fragrance on HSN, that fans will follow those they love anywhere. So like Queen Latifah, Iman and a host of others like stylist Rachel Zoe, Jennifer will be selling her affordable fashion line. Yes I said affordable–from $50 to $170, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
I am not sure what the point of difference with this line–perhaps it doesn’t need one. It is Jennifer after all and we love rooting for her and everything that she does. I think people will buy it just for the chance to feel closer to her–hell they may even get to talk to her during the live show. If the clothes are well designed, it will be icing on the cake. There’s no need to recount all that she’s been through we’ll never forget it. But every time she triumphs in a new area she gives us a reason to root for her even more. So go Jennifer, go!Read Also
