Etta’s Last Stand: The Dreamer Will Be Her Last Album

For most of us, Etta James’ legacy can be summed up in one song  At Last  or in the troubled persona Beyoncé brought to the scene in Cadillac Records.  But James is so much more than these mere memories. And the proof is in the music. Even though the sultry-voiced singer has been ailing and has decided to retire from music, she is giving us all the sexy songstress she can muster (and folks that’s a whole lot) in her latest offering The Dreamer. And I have got to say that she throws a little funk on top of that (yup, at 73!)

I stumbled across this review in The Los Angeles Times and went directly to ITunes to hear what she was singing about. And her funkified version of Welcome to the Jungle is not to be missed but then the moody Let Me Down Easy will give you the blues you’re expecting. I will be inaugurating my Etta James station on Pandora tomorrow. I urge you to learn a bit more about James’ music sooner rather than later.
