There was a time that you had to be in the music or movie game for a more than a minute before you got signed to a beauty or fashion contract. But these since celebrities are still a hot commodity, brands are always on the hunt for the next big thing. Right now, it might just be Azealia Banks. According to The Hollywood Reporter the rapper has been signed as the latest face for T by Alexander Wang for his Fall 2012 campaign. I guess we should have known something was up when she accompanied Wang to the Met Gala. It’s not only the biggest intersection of fashion and fame it’s also the place where deals are made.
Banks already had an affinity for fashion. She debuted one of her new songs at a Mugler fashion show earlier this year. Now she’s going full throttle in the video promoting Wang’s line, which you can check out on style.com. What I like about Banks is she’s giving looks and displaying her talents without being over-the-top or a caricature. To me it’s both appealing and refreshing. I am not really hating on Nikki Minaj–in fact, I think the sister is really smart–I just think Banks could just be the next hot thing.
