I know you’re probably wondering why That Black Girl Site is recommending that you rent (or buy) Anne Hathaway’s Oscar-nominated turn in “Rachel Getting Married” ($21.43).  Well, because Lena Horne’s granddaughter Jenny Lumet wrote the screenplay. The second reason is that Rachel is marrying a black man (Tunde Adebimpe from the group TV On The Radio)  and unlike the  Sidney Poitier’s  1960s classic “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner”, race isn’t even mentioned. Some think it is a portrait of a post-racial America, I still say like all movies it is steeped in fantasy (albeit, hopeful). Plus the always fabulous Anna Deveare Smith is in the cast too!
