It was the gasp heard ‘round the world when Bruno, the always slightly inappropriate turned creepy leering judge shouted after Lil’ Kim’s waltz: “You try to be a lady, but you’re more comfortable being a tramp!”

He quickly blamed translation and Lil’ Kim graciously laughed off the comment, but the gaffe was not lost among the startled audience. Granted, her first dance of the night was subdued, saved only by a graceful lift. But Carrie and Len opted to give an actual critique—Len enjoyed the tradition and quality of the dance, while Carrie criticized her missteps and encouraged more arm extensions. The dance only earned a 25, but Derek promised the “bionic booty” would return in their salsa.

And return it did. Lil’ Kim let her saucier side out in full force for the salsa, her second performance of the night. It was chock full of hip twists and booty shaking, which of course excited none other than Bruno. If his first comment didn’t get the message across, he jumped out of his seat, singing Flo Rida’s “Right Round.” Which leads me to sadly wonder which has more value on the show- the woman or the booty?

I’m in favor of getting Bruno a muzzle. The inappropriate comments undermine Lil Kim’s growth, diminishing her to some kind of video vixen. But I admire her poise when she could have quickly lashed out like many past contestants. And for that I respect her even more.
