I adore this shade called Midnight Rose from the Lancôme Paris Vernis in Love Collection. It’s available at Nordstrom.com now!
I am not one of those people who likes to smell my signature scent on every sister walking by. So I am always in search of unusual scents that work with my body chemistry to help me stand out. Right now I have got my eye on these Chantecaille Scents, particulary the sexy Kalimantan and the refreshing Vetyver ($175) bergdorfgoodman.com.
It’s time to get ready for New Years Eve and of course every woman needs to prepare for that special midnight kiss. So what you wear on your lips is going to be important. My pick: MAC’s Pro Longwear Lipcreme in Dress It Up . It’s a subtle sexy shade that says to the one you’re with that you’re ready to pucker up. The bonus: this sensational lip choice lasts up to 12 hours so you don’t have to worry about reapplying it over and over again during the night. Because you know a night out on the…
The holiday season is finally here and it’s time for us to step it up a notch. We change clothes most during this time to compensate multiple outings and small details like our nails are vital. Red is a seasonal favorite, but Chanel’s Le Vernis Nail Colour 08 Pirate is definitely a must wear. This color can easily take you from day to night while adding that hint of sass! The sleek shine of multiple coats of Pirate is a subtle detail that everyone is guaranteed to notice.
DARE TO BE BOLD: The days of the safe lip colour are gone! Fall is a great time to experiment with lip stain and colours to find which ones work best for you. Revlon’s super lustrous lipstick crème Va Va Va Violet 633 has been my new obsession. The vibrant plume color definitely adds a pop to every ensemble and can go easily from day to night. Rocking the crème Violet with a turban is definitely a THAT BLACK GIRL favorite.Adding what I consider an ethnic dazzle, I can’t help but accessorize the bold lip with a touch of bronzer, mascara, and little to no eye shadow. If you…

Last week I had a visit from grammy winner Chrisette Michelle at the salon. She came in to get her hair cut. I asked her what she was looking to do. She explained that when I originally cut her hair two years ago into her infamous “Ephinany” faux hawk she recalled never having to do her hair, “I used to get up and run my fingers through it, I want to be able to do that again”. She then pointed out a white boy at the salon and says, “just like his hair”. Apparently the stylist who…
As always I grab my blog topics from my salon stories. How funny and crazy they can be sometimes. I promised a recent client I would write my blog on her because I wanted to dispel yet another myth. (more…)
Chris Rock’s new documentary, “Good Hair,” finally hit theatres nationwide last weekend, so black women across the country are undoubtedly still discussing the politics of hair. I’ve experienced more than 20 years of hair reinventions, from the 14-inch, layered partial weave I sport today to the two big country plaits my Liberian mother braided into my hair when I was in elementary school. On other occasions, my cousin would make square parts all over my head and make single braids out of my very short, very coarse hair. You probably would’ve mistook me for one of Coolio’s children back then, but…
Ok, Ok, Ok……Let’s talk about it. Have you seen the trailer for Chris Rock’s new movie “Good Hair”? How do you feel about it? For the next three weeks, I want to have an ongoing conversation with you how you feel about the good vs. bad hair issue. (more…)
